Traditional Wedding Vows

For the most part, people know how the traditional wedding vows go. Most of them come off sounding just about the same. However, that is why people use them, because they are traditional. They get across the feeling that you want to get across in a wedding. Also, it is almost refreshing to hear some traditional wedding vows done at a wedding, because everyone is going for a more modern approach nowadays. It almost seems like traditional wedding vows are a good way to change it up a bit.

When going with traditional wedding vows, there are a few points that you want to include. Most of these you already know, but below is a sample of what a traditional wedding vow should
sound like:

“I Bob, take you Uma, to be my wife, to love and to cherish, for better for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, from this day forward, for the rest of our lives.”

As you can see, this is a very standard traditional wedding vow that you would hear at most weddings. However, the key elements are all there. You are promising to love her for the rest of your life, no matter what happens. Those are what your wedding vows are suppose to be about anyway. There are some parts that people leave out of traditional wedding vows for different reasons nowadays. If there is a certain part that you would like to leave out of your wedding vows, then you can either ask the person who gives you your vows to leave that part out, or you can choose to write your own vows. Writing your own marriage vows is not as hard as it may seem. However, even if you are writing your own, if you want traditional wedding vows, then you are going to have to keep in the key elements.

Remember, there are certain things that people listen for whenever they think they are hearing traditional wedding vows. So if you are going to do traditional, you may want to include these in some way, shape or form. For example, they always look to hear for richer or poorer. They also look to hear in sickness and in health. These are parts of traditional vows that have been there for years. Leaving them out, for some reason, does not make it feel very traditional at all, however many people do opt for unique or original wedding vows of their own - which simply include many of the traditional wordings, but reflect the couples’ unique nature and beliefs.

Wedding vows are very romantic and meaningful to a lot of people. In fact, during marriage, a lot of women and men refer back to their wedding vows. This is a promise that you are making to this person for the rest of your life. Breaking these vows can cause a lot of problems in a marriage.
