The Wedding Dance or First Dance

The first dance is an important part of wedding receptions. This is something your guests will look forward to and probably keep talking about long after your wedding day. So, make them remember your wedding dance with admiration.

How do you do this especially if you have never seen your fiancé dance? Of course, for every problem there is a solution. Why do you think there are dance studios for?

Alright, you may not want to hire dance instructor, but there is an alternative.

Let me give you some helpful tips on how to prepare for your wedding dance.

Things you need to know:

• The venue of the reception. Does it have a dance floor? How big is the dance floor? Will the surface of the dance floor be slippery or will it be rough?

You need to know this in advance before you think of learning a wedding dance.

• Will you have a live band or a CD playing your wedding songs? This is important because you need to practice the song that you will dance to. Please note that the tempo may differ between a live band and a CD player.

• You may opt to choose the dance first then the song or you may choose the love song for the wedding first before you think of the dance. If you have a memorable song you want to dance to on your wedding day, choose that song and think of the dance that will match that song. Alternatively, if both of you know a certain type of dance, then think of the song that will suit that dance.

Whatever you choose, always think of what will make the two of you look good on your wedding dance.

• Once you have settled on the song, learn the dance. If you are afraid of looking funny in front of people buy a dance CD, preferably those dances used at wedding receptions. Practice and make sure you practice regularly.

You both have to feel good dancing and the song that you will dance to.

• Consider the clothes both of you will wear on your dance. If you are wearing your wedding dress on your dance, think of how your dress will look as you raise your arm or turn or twirl. Considering your dress as you dance will help avoid looking awkward in front of your guests.

• If the chill overshadowed the thrill and you made mistakes while dancing, do not stop. Remember it is your dance, you are the only person or couple who knows your dance. Your guests will never know if you missed a step or what.

Again, let me remind you that it is your wedding and it is your big day. Do not let anything spoil your wedding dance and the happiness of the event.

Enjoy every minute of being the newly weds, your guests will never forget a happy wedding. Your wedding dance need not be perfect, but the two of you need to feel perfect.

Finally, practice makes wedding dance feel perfect and comfortable.
