Creating A Wedding Program

There are two different options you can consider for your wedding programs. You can either have them professionally made by a printer or you can prepare them yourselves. If you decide to have them printed professionally, you can always add a personal touch to each program. This is still an option and it may make you feel like you’ve had some input into the project. Always ask for sample wedding programs so that you have the most control over the look and feel of the presentation.

But what should your program include? Well, most wedding programs are designed as a guide for your wedding guests. They should formally include a schedule of events that are taking place on the day of your wedding and should also list the vocalists, musicians, readers, as well as the members of your wedding party. Sometimes couples choose to have very elaborate wedding planners that have a number of pages. These pages often include an engagement photograph, a special page of thanks, and perhaps even a poem about love and marriage.

The colors of wedding programs, believe it or not, are actually quite important. They should match the overall theme and color of your wedding. If you decide that your wedding ceremony program needs a little touch of elegance, you can always have it printed on elegant paper and add ribbons. This may may the touch of sophistication that your presentation requires.

If you’ve decided to have a printer create the programs for the wedding, there are several things you should do. First, you should type out everything you want included in your ceremony program. Next, you should supply any images you wish for him to include.

Generally, wedding programs are booklets made from 8 X 11 paper. They are then folded in half and saddle stapled to make a booklet. Ask the printer if this is what he had in mind during the creation of the sample wedding programs. Also, you should ask him to create only one copy so that you can proof it. By proof, of course, we mean read the wedding program and examine it for any typographical errors. You’d be surprised how commonly this occurs. Especially with misspelling of the names of persons in your wedding party.

Lastly, there is no correct or incorrect way to prepare your wedding program. Should you decide to create it a wedding program on your own, you’ll be saving a lot of money. It’s not a very tricky task, nor is it very time consuming. Most people actually enjoy the freedom of creating their own wedding program from ‘scratch.’ Others on the other hand, have their hands full with several different wedding projects. In the end, the choice is yours.
